Winter is not good for your skin. It is romantic weather out there. But very harsh for your skin. The more the temperature drops the more skin becomes dry & flaky. Dry skin peoples have a very tough period in winters. As oily and normal could survive.
You start to dig out all your weather clothes like jackets and sweaters etc. This cold weather robs the natural oils from skin leave dry and itchy skin.
This cold weather demands more skincare. Here’s a basic guide to winter skincare that will help to put your best face forward.
Moisturizer for face & hands
As the temperature drops, the water content from skin drops too. This means it needs a heavy moisturizer. The type you choose depends on skin type. Dry & combination skin type pick an oil-based moisturizer for face.
As oily skin can go with natural moisturizers for the face. Natural moisturizers are olive oil, shea butter, coconut oil etc. These things are my saviours this winters. You can also have vitamin E serums, almond oil, avocado oil, cocoa butter and etc. Hence, do not skip moisturizing your face this winters.
When it comes to hands, we mostly look after moisturizer for face. But we should look after our hands.
Bathing with hot water washes away natural oils from body. After bathing make sure to apply body lotion to the dry parts. Use a shea butter based, fragrance free lotion. Which moisturizes the skin well.
It is important to moisturize the skin immediately after the bath. Choose a daytime moisturizer lotion or cream carefully. Also get a night time lotion. Choose a night time lotion which would moisturize intensely. Be careful about choosing creams as they should not close the pores.
Also add some milk into your bathing water. As milk moisturizes the skin well and gives a soft skin. Therefore, make sure you add milk into your bathing routine.
In winters you really need a hydrating face mask. Which would hydrate your skin as well as remove all its impurities. Use a face mask twice a week. Use a gel based or cream based face mask.
It will hydrate your skin as well as remove impurities, toxins, and tan. It also helps to minimize facial expression lines. Here are some face masks that are curated especially for winters.
- 1 tablespoon Sandalwood powder.
- Virgin Olive Oil 1/2 teaspoon.
